What works great for one person may not have the same effect on someone else. This is because everyone’s body is different and everyone has a different genetic makeup; this is why Athletic Genetix was created. Athletic Genetix analyzes your genetic makeup through a cheek swab test and design a comprehensive game plan customized to your own body’s needs and your specific health goals.
Whether you want to lose or gain weight, become more flexible, be better at a certain sport, avoid injury or even just live a healthier life, having a customized workout based on your own DNA will allow your body to get the most out of each workout. The key in our genetic testing is the ability to determine if you have an advantage in power and or endurance, how quickly your body recovers from workouts, how fatigued your muscles can get and your body’s flexibility. All of these results will allow us to form a customized workout plan for you! By understanding your power and endurance advantages, we will be able to see which types of workouts you will give you the improvement. For example, if you have an endurance advantage but no advantage in power you will see a faster improvement by doing endurance training versus power training. If you are a Pro Athlete or inspire to be one, knowing endurance and power advantages will show you what strengths and weaknesses your body has genetically and you can adapt your training around it. Understanding how quickly your body recovers from a workout will allow us to build a customized workout schedule that takes your recovery into account so your body is more likely to stay healthy and feel better after each workout. By understanding your muscle fatigue based on your DNA we are able to provide a workout plan that gives the proper amount of time for your muscles to cover from the previous workout. This will help prevent muscle related injuries. Lastly, we can help advise the right amount of warm up, cool down and stretching time for your muscles to stay healthy.
What Dietary Recommendations are Best for your Genetics?
Dietary recommendations are also an important component of our test. It will inform you of what proteins and protein powders work best for your body after workouts and if you of have intolerances to Lactose and Gluten based on your DNA. (For example, if you have intolerances in one or both of these, having a whey protein after a workout may cause inflammation, which would then be counter productive to the workout you just had.) The amount of food and meals one eats should also be decided based on your DNA and not based on ones nutrition plans. One might be genetically predisposed to maintain a healthier weight when they are consuming 5 to 6 small meals a day while you might fare better eating only up to 3 small meals every day or vise versa.
